A 5-SECOND CLOCK
"A 5-Second Clock" is Santiago Paredes' fourth solo exhibition at Moria Galería. Curated by Marcelo Galindo, it features paintings, large-format drawings, and recent objects.
In the curator's words: "Santiago Paredes designs flowers that allude to stereotypical forms, and that design, an image with a stereotypical appearance, yet not fully stereotyped, passes through the filter of a painting that expressionizes those designs, entering dense atmospheres where everything phosphoresces."
Additionally, in the coleccióndm room, Santiago presents an exhibition project that revisits the collection in a site-specific installation, reflecting on and engaging in dialogue with artists who have influenced his artistic practice.
"A 5-Second Clock", Santiago Paredes, curated by Marcelo Galindo
Thursday to Saturday, 4 PM – 8 PM
Moria Galería, Bolívar 430, 2nd floor, Buenos Aires.
About colecciondm:
In this room, we present a selection of works from the colecciondm, chosen by Santiago Paredes.
Collectors Martín and Diego began their journey ten years ago, acquiring pieces that are now distributed between New York and Buenos Aires.
With a clear intention, 80% of the collection consists of works by female artists, including internationally renowned figures as well as emerging talents from the Argentine art scene. Young promises, mid-career artists, and historical figures converge in this space, weaving an intergenerational and transcultural dialogue.
Colecciondm is an ever-evolving project. Interested in the local art scene, the collectors have transformed part of their holdings into an accessible repository—a kind of visual library that fosters exchange and collaboration. Convinced of the importance of sharing spaces and experiences beyond commercial purposes, they open their collection’s doors to artists, gallerists, curators, and fellow collectors, promoting a rich dialogue.
In this spirit of openness and collaboration, colecciondm reserves a special room in Moria for projects that will accompany each exhibition, offering artists the opportunity to showcase works that they might not otherwise have access to.
For this occasion, Santiago has selected a series of works, most of which are being exhibited in Argentina for the first time. These pieces engage in dialogue with his own production, deepening the ideas suggested by the exhibition. The artist proposes an exhibition project that revisits the collection through a site-specific installation, reflecting on and interacting with influential artists in his practice.
Works by: Nobuyoshi Araki, Sister Corita Kent, Piero Manzoni, Nan Goldin, Mickalene Thomas, Katherine Bernhardt, Rocío Englender, Santiago O. Rey and Marcelo Alzetta.
